Zharnel Hughes hails "major achievement"

Great Britain's Zharnel Hughes describes his performance at the World Athletics Championships as a "major achievement".

Great Britain's Zharnel Hughes has described his performance at the World Athletics Championships as a "major achievement".

The 20-year-old, competing in his first major championships for GB, reached the final of the men's 200m and recorded a personal best of 20.02s to finish fifth in Beijing.

Hughes revealed afterwards that he had been struggling with a back injury, but insists that the race went as well as he could have hoped.

"I've had a bit of pain in my back but my physio did a great job. I got a personal best and I can't wish for better than that. I got into the final and that's a major achievement for me," he told BBC Sport.

Usain Bolt powered to victory in the 200m final, beating Justin Gatlin to win a fourth consecutive world gold over the distance and a 10th world title overall.
