Great Britain's Paralympic gold medallist David Weir qualifies in the first three for the men's T54 1500m final.

Great Britain's wheelchair sprinter David Weir has edged into the final of the men's T54 1500m after qualifying in third place.

The Brit, who clinched gold in last night's 5000m final, had a nervy end to the heat at the Olympic Stadium this morning and was in danger of dropping out of the top three following a late challenge from China's Zhang Lixin.

Mohammad Vahdani of the United Arab Emirates set the pace at the start of the contest, while Weir tucked himself into the inside line sitting in third position for the first lap.

Switzerland's Marcel Hug committed a late surge to take the fastest time of 3:11.17, while Prawat Wahoram of Thailand finished just behind him in 3:11.31.

The final takes place tomorrow evening.
