Great Britain's Jamie Carter edges into the men's T34 200m final as a fastest loser on his Paralympic debut.

Great Britain's Paralympic wheelchair sprinter Jamie Carter has clinched a spot in the men's T34 200m final as a fastest loser.

The teenager endured an agonising wait to discover if he would be able to contest for a medal in the final after finishing fifth with a personal best time of 30.85s in the first heat.

Ahmad Almutairi of Kuwait could only manage a time of 31.02s in the second heat, which Tunisia's Walid Ktila stormed through to claim a world record time of 27.98s.

Stefan Rusch of the Netherlands also qualified as a fastest loser after finishing above Carter in a time of 30.57s.
