Edith Wolf wins the T54 5000m wheelchair race

Edith Wolf wins the women's 5000m wheelchair race as Britain's Shelly Woods misses out on a medal.

Britain's Shelly Woods has missed out on a medal in the women's T54 5000m wheelchair race.

Swiss athlete Edith Wolf took the gold medal with a time of 12:27.87.

Shirley Reilly of America came second with Australia's Christie Dawes winning the bronze medal.

The race was a very tactical one and Woods didn't have enough in the final straight.

"It's not really what I wanted but I gave it my best shot," Woods told Channel 4. "I stuck to my plan and just didn't have enough in the end.

"I thought I could shake them off in the final lap. I gave it everything I had."

Woods will still compete in the 1500m, 800m and the marathon.
