Olympics, Paralympics stars to be placed in separate honours list

The Olympics and Paralympics heroes are reportedly expected to be placed in separate New Years Honours lists.

Great Britain's Olympic and Paralympic heroes are expected to dominate the New Year's Honours list after it was reportedly decided that two lists would be drawn out to separate the stars.

The traditional process consists of a committee putting forward one name for a knighthood, four for CBEs, 38 MBEs and 20 OBEs. However, it is understood that Prime Minister David Cameron has allowed two lists to be allocated in order to celebrate the achievements of all the athletes.

"They will be dealt with separately, as it has been an exceptional year," The Telegraph quotes a source as saying.

The likes of Olympic heroes Bradley Wiggins, Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah are expected to be honoured along with Paralympic favourites Sarah Storey and Ellie Simmonds.
