ParalympicsGB wheelchair sprinter Mickey Bushell says that teammate David Weir has been a "massive influence" in his preparation for the London Games.

Great Britain's Paralympic gold medallist Mickey Bushell has paid tribute to his athletics teammate David Weir after winning the men's T53 100m final.

The Brit cruised to gold in the Olympic Stadium a day after Weir rode to victory in the T54 5000m final.

"Gold was the only thing I wanted," The Telegraph quotes Bushell as saying. "I know I had to work for it, it's been a long, hard four years.

"I watched Dave Weir and as he crossed the line I was bouncing off the walls in my room. I didn't know what to do. He's been a massive influence - just as a teammate, he's been there for me.

"He was there for me in Beijing as well, even with all the stuff he had to deal with as well. He's a fantastic guy, a great role model to look up to."

Meanwhile, Weir will take to the track this evening for the men's T54 1500m final.
