Great Britain's athletics coach Charles van Commenee thinks that the team's first gold medal of the Games can inspire his team on the track.

Great Britain's head coach of UK athletics Charles van Commenee hopes that the team's first gold medal can have a ripple effect across the camp.

Van Commenee. who is under pressure to deliver medals on the track, thinks that the achievements of Heather Stanning and Helen Glover in the women's pair will create a winning mentality across the group.

He told BBC Sport: "Success breeds success, having medal gives a positive buzz in the camp, hopefully more to follow."

Team GB finally claimed their first gold medal of London 2012 at Eton Dorney in the women's pair thanks to Stanning and Glover.
