Spain's Miguel Angel Lopez clinches the gold medal in the men's 20km walk at the World Athletics Championships by seeing off China's Zhen Wang in Beijing.

Spain's Miguel Angel Lopez has claimed the gold medal in the men's 20km walk at the World Athletics Championships.

The 27-year-old was able to keep in the chasing pack behind China's Zhen Wang for the majority of the race before he decided to make his move.

Lopez upped the ante and managed to pass Wang and increased his pace just enough to claim the victory in a time of 1:19.14, recording a personal best, as Wang was forced to settle for silver.

Canada's Benjamin Thorne took the bronze, while Great Britain's Tom Bosworth finished in 25th in a time of 1:23.58.
