Scotland's Lynsey Sharp collects silver medal in 800m final

Scotland's Lynsey Sharp claims silver in the 800m final as Eunice Sum adds to her world title with a dominant display at the Commonwealth Games.

Lynsey Sharp of Scotland produced a strong finish to her race to claim silver in the 800m final at the Commonwealth Games on Friday evening.

The gold was won by world champion Eunice Sum, who was predictably dominant in the final 200m as the Kenyan stormed away from the rest of the field to cross the line in a time of 2:00.31.

However, the drama was going on behind Sum as Uganda's Winnie Nanyondo was chased down by Sharp in the closing stages, with the Scot managing to edge out her rival at the finish with a dip on the line.

Nanyondo was forced to settle for the bronze medal, while England's Jess Judd held off a number of competitors in the home straight to claim fourth.
