Tatyana Lysenko broke the Olympic record during this evening's women's hammer throw final.
The Russian recorded a distance of 77.56m with her very first throw of the night.
That effort has since been recorded as the ninth-longest in the history of the sport.
The 28-year-old returned to competition in 2009 following a two-year suspension for using the banned substance methylandrostendione.
