Russian Anti-Doping Agency suspended by WADA

The World Anti-Doping Agency chooses to suspended the Russian Anti-Doping Agency due to non-compliance.

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency has been suspended by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) due to non-compliance.

The decision comes in the wake of a doping scandal which has rocked athletics, with an independent commission set up by WADA finding evidence of widespread doping offences and cover-ups in Russia.

WADA's foundation board voted unanimously to suspend the Russian agency, while a Moscow lab involved in the scandal has already been decertified and handed a six-month provisional ban.

The IAAF has also voted to provisionally ban Russia's athletics federation from international competition, which could see them miss out on a place at next summer's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia and Ukraine have also been declared as non-compliant, while Brazil, Belgium, France, Greece, Mexico and Spain have been placed on a watch list and must meet strict conditions by March if they are to avoid the same fate.
