Katarina Johnson-Thompson withdraws from European Championships

British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson withdraws from the European Championships with a foot complaint.

Great Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thompson has pulled out of the upcoming European Championships in Zurich.

The 21-year-old heptathlete missed the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a foot injury.

It had been reported that she could recover in time to compete in Switzerland, but despite undergoing treatment, she has been forced to withdraw from the event.

Her teammate, Phillips Idowu, will also not take part in the long jump, with a view to rediscovering his best form in training.
