Paralympian Aled Davies sets new shot putt world record

Paralympian Aled Davies sets a new F42 shot putt world indoor record in Cardiff.

Welsh Paralympian Aled Davies has set a new F42 shot putt world indoor record at the Cardiff Met New Year classic.

Davies, who switched from coach Anthony Hughes to Ryan Spencer-Jones in the winter, started 2015 in strong fashion at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cyncoed, Cardiff.

Davies expressed his joy on Twitter by writing: "Cobwebs shaken off! 15.53m first competition of the year. Personal best and World Record. Big thank you to my coach @ryanshotput #JUSTDOIT."

The 23-year-old won gold at London 2012 and clinched silver in the F42/44 discus event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games last summer.
