Dwain Chambers tells selectors that he only wants to take part in next month's European Indoor Championships if he is 100% fit and in with a genuine medal chance.

Sprint veteran Dwain Chambers has conceded that he does not want to participate in next month's European Indoor Championships unless he is 100% fit.

Chambers has struggled with injuries in the early part of this season and failed to make the final of Saturday's British Grand Prix in Birmingham.

In a message to selectors, Chambers has declared that he only wants to travel to Gothenburg with a genuine chance of winning a medal.

He told ESPN: "I will only want to go if I am 100%. My only aim is to win a medal. The selectors have to make a calculated call and if I'm not fit then there is no point selecting me.

"It's been rather difficult because I'm not used to injuries. But as you start to get older and a little bit more mature in your event, these things happen.

"These are just lessons learned for me and I just have to take this as an experience and learn to improve from there."

The 34-year-old won a silver medal at the last European indoors in 2011 over 60m.
