Jenny Meadows will contest if left out of Olympics squad

British 800m runner Jenny Meadows insists that she will appeal if she is not selected for Team GB's athletics squad next week.

British athlete Jenny Meadows has revealed that she will lodge an appeal if she is left out of Team GB's athletics squad for the London Olympics.

The 31-year-old has been dealt a blow in her race to be fit for this summer's Games after suffering a reaction to an Achilles injury, which forced her out of the European Athletics Championships semi-finals in Helsinki today.

"I would appeal, you've got to do everything," said Meadows. "It's the Olympic Games, it's not a hobby, it's not a profession. It's literally my life."

The 800m runner will discover her fate when the selection for Team GB is made on Monday.
