Jamaica dominate 4x100m relay heats

Usain Bolt makes his first appearance of the Commonwealth Games as Jamaica's men and women dominate the 4x100m heats.

Jamaica's men and women have produced dominant displays in the heats of the 4x100m to safely secure their progress at the Commonwealth Games.

All eyes were on Usain Bolt inside Hampden Park as the greatest sprinter in the world took charge of the baton on the home straight with his team battling Nigeria for the lead.

Bolt didn't disappoint as he eased over the finish line to complete the win for the firm favourites for tomorrow's final in a time of 39.99s.

There was also success for England in the third and final heat as they cruised to a win ahead of South Africa in a time of 38.78s.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was the anchor for the women in their heat, but there was little pressure on the Olympic 100m champion as she stormed home with a big lead already in place thanks to her teammates.

England's women survived a scare on their way to finishing second behind Jamaica, with Ashleigh Nelson only just managing to take the baton from Louise Bloor inside the designated area.

However, there was disappointment for Wales in the same race as they were denied a new national record due to a mistake between Mica Moore and Hannah Thomas.
