Kirani James: "I can't believe it"

Grenada's 400m runner Kirani James admits that he is shocked by his gold medal win this evening.

Kirani James has admitted that he was shocked by his Olympic gold medal performance during the men's 400m final this evening.

The 19-year-old powered down the home straight to leave his rivals trailing in his wake, clocking his first ever sub 44-second time in the process.

Having also become the first athlete from Granada to win a gold medal at the Games, the youngster expects that his home nation will be "going crazy" in celebration.

"The whole of [Grenada] is probably going crazy right now, I can't believe it," he told BBC Sport.

James also won the World Championship in Daegu last year.
