Lord Sebastian Coe hails "sensational" Commonwealth Games

Lord Sebastian Coe praises organisers for their part in a "sensational" Commonwealth Games.

Lord Sebastian Coe has praised the organisers of the Commonwealth Games for producing a "sensational" event in Glasgow.

Coe, who played a key role in bringing the Olympics to London in 2012, believes that this summer has proven how important the Games are to athletes.

"I think they've been sensational on pretty much every level," the 57-year-old told members of the media. "Organisationally [it has been] executed flawlessly and the city has absorbed the experience.

"You only have to walk around Glasgow to see how important the Games are.

"The Commonwealth Games are still incredibly relevant. If you look at some of the track and field that we've seen here, it's been top drawer."

The Games come to an end on Sunday evening.
