Team England seal bronze in 4x400m final

England win Commonwealth bronze in the women's 4x400m relay, but could not prevent Jamaica from setting a new Games record en route to gold.

Team England have won Commonwealth bronze in the women's 4x400m relay final tonight as Jamaica claimed gold and a new Games record in the process.

The English quartet of Anyika Onuora, Shana Cox, Kelly Massey and Christine Ohuruogu clocked a time of 3:27.24 to seal third on the podium ahead of Australia.

Their effort was nowhere near strong enough to rival the Jamaicans, however, as Stephanie McPherson surged past Nigeria's Folashade Abugan to seal first place and a Games best time of 3:23.82.

There were celebrations from the men's camp, too, as Matthew Hudson-Smith produced a herculean effort to help England to gold in their 4x400m relay.
