Greg Rutherford confident ahead of long jump final

Team England's Greg Rutherford reveals that he is confident ahead of the long jump final at the Commonwealth Games after producing the biggest jump during qualifying.

Team England's Greg Rutherford has admitted that he feels confident after qualifying for the final of the men's long jump at the Commonwealth Games.

The 27-year-old produced the biggest jump during the qualifying session, measuring 8.05m, although he wasn't overly happy with his performance and has insisted that the best is still to come.

He told reporters: "From the point of view of the first round I was pretty happy – technically it was an awful jump but I was just determined to get over that 7.90m mark.

"I'm feeling happy and confident, so onwards tomorrow and hopefully another good performance."

The long jump final takes place at Hampden Park on Wednesday.
