Team England's Seb Rodger has admitted that he had "a bit of a nightmare" during the heats of the 400m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games today.
Rodger failed to make it through to tomorrow's final at Hampden Park on what was his debut at the Games, finishing fifth in his heat with a time of 50.71s.
The 23-year-old was downbeat following the race, admitting that the "awful" performance capped off a "nightmare year", but he insists that the problem was not down to his physical condition.
"I had a bit of a nightmare. I'm not too sure where I go from here. I need to have a word with my coach and see what's going on. I was not performing how I should be. That was awful," Rodger told Sports Mole.
"It's been a bit of a nightmare year as I said, but I feel good. I thought I'd come here and run well but unfortunately, it just didn't happen. I'm not really sure what's happening with everything, so I just need to get my head sorted really.
"Not physically. I feel fine. I think it's more of a... today I probably pushed a bit too hard on the back straight, with the headwind, but there's still no excuse."
Rodger's compatriot Richard Yates did make it into the final and will race for a place on the podium tomorrow evening.
