Sally Pearson announces coaching change

Sally Pearson announces that she has split with coach of 14 years Sharon Hannon in order to link-up with training partner Antony Drinkwater-Newman.

Olympic 100 metres hurdles champion Sally Pearson has parted company with long-term coach Sharon Hannan.

The 27-year-old Australian has been coached by Hannan for the past 14 years but has now turned to Antony Drinkwater-Newman, her training partner on the Gold Coast.

"Antony and I have trained together over many years in the same squad and also while he was Sharon's assistant," Pearson said in a press release.

"I was excited by the fresh ideas that Antony has developed and I know that we work well together.

"Antony will be able to train beside me and that will be special. He is the logical choice for me and I am really keen to resume training shortly."

Pearson has struggled with a hamstring injury since winning gold in the Olympics but expects to be back in action for the IAAF Indoor Championships in March.
