Report: Team Wales athlete assaulted at Commonwealth Games

A report claims that a Welsh competitor was allegedly assaulted by an Australian athlete at the Commonwealth Games.

A Commonwealth Games competitor will reportedly appear in court today following an alleged assault at the Athletes' Village.

ITV Sport claims that the 29-year-old suspect, who is said to be an Australian athlete, was detained by police yesterday following the incident in Glasgow.

It is thought that the man in question carried out the alleged assault on a Welsh competitor.

A Team Wales spokesman said: "We're aware of an incident that occurred overnight involving a member of Team Wales and we're currently working with Police Scotland to assist them with their inquiries."
