Antrel Rolle: 'Robert Griffin III takes too many hits'

New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle believes that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III takes too many hits.

Antrel Rolle believes that the Washington Redskins allow Robert Griffin III to be hit too often.

The quarterback, who had to undergo a knee ligament reconstruction during the off-season, has been sacked 33 times so far this season, including 11 times in the last two games.

The New York Giants safety, who made seven tackles during the team's 24-17 win over the Redskins at the weekend, told SportsNet New York: "I think that guy takes too many brutal hits. As far as whether he gets hit going out of bounds, whether he's causing himself to hit the ground extremely hard or whether he's just getting hit by opponents, he does take a lot of hits.

"That's something RG3 has to look forward to in his career, and he has to probably make some different decisions. But I can't worry about RG3 as far as him getting hit. As an opponent, it's my job to go out there and hit him and disrupt him as much as you can.

"He's a great quarterback. We all know he brings his game. But as far as him taking brutal hits, you can't close your eyes to that fact."

The Redskins host the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.
