Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been told that he can begin running, four months after undergoing Achilles surgery.

Fred Davis has been given medical clearance to start running again following surgery to repair an Achilles tear.

The Washington Redskins tight end missed much of the 2012 season after sustaining the injury in October.

The 27-year-old's surgeon has said that he is recovering well, and will be ready to take part in off-season workouts.

Davis is due to become a free agent next month, but the Washington Post reports that the Redskins may offer him a new contract before then.
