Tennessee Titans' Jake Locker's hip injury not as serious as first feared

The Tennessee Titans confirm that quarterback Jake Locker will only be out for three weeks with a hip injury as they state that the injury is not as bad as first feared.

The Tennessee Titans have confirmed that quarterback Jake Locker will not require surgery on a hip injury and will only be out of action for three weeks.

It was feared that the 25-year-old could be lost for the season after he was stretchered off in his side's win over the New York Jets after taking a hit from Quinton Coples.

However, the Titans revealed that the injury was not as serious as first believed.

The team said in a statement: "We received reassuring reports from the second MRI today and they confirmed that there was no major damage to Jake Locker's hip joint - it is classified as a sprained hip.

"The area will need time to heal and strengthen, but he won't require surgery and he has already begun a rehab routine for both his hip and knee.

"We certainly would expect him to miss a few weeks, but we are encouraged by the news today."

The Titans are 3-1 in their season after week four.
