Gabe Carimi cut by Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Former first-round Draft pick Gabe Carimi is cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after just one season with the team.

Offensive lineman Gabe Carimi has been released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after just one season with the team.

Carimi was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 2011 Draft, but he suffered from injuries and failed to live up to expectations at Soldier Field.

He was traded to the Buccaneers for a sixth-round Draft pick last off-season but started just three games during the campaign, although he did feature in 14 matches overall.

Carimi was one of four players cut by Tampa Bay as they also released running back Michael Hill, quarterback Jordan Rodgers and defensive lineman Derek Landri, while adding quarterback Mike Kafka.

The Buccaneers finished last season with a 4-12 record, missing out on the playoffs for a sixth consecutive year.
