Tampa Bay Buccaneers place Doug Martin on injured reserve

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announce that they have placed running back Doug Martin on season-ending injured reserve.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that they have placed running back Doug Martin on their injured reserve list.

Martin sustained a shoulder injury in his side's defeat to the Atlanta Falcons on October 20 and has been out of action since.

Greg Schiano's side wanted to give the ailment time to heal on its own to see if he could recover to play some part in the end of their campaign.

However, Martin has failed to make a recovery from the injury which will now require surgery that will end his season as a result of being placed on IR.

The 24-year-old had rushed for 456 yards this campaign on 127 carries and had scored one touchdown.
