St Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has admitted that the club were surprised to see defensive tackle Aaron Donald available to them with the 13th selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.
The Rams added Donald out of the Pittsburgh Panthers to add to their talented defensive line, after Fisher believed that the 22-year-old would be long gone before then.
"We were [surprised. Les' [Snead] guys did a great job with the research and we felt like there was a pretty good chance that he would disappear, and then a couple things happened.
"We were rubbing our lucky coin and he was there."
Donald recorded 59 tackles and 11 sacks for the Panthers in the 2013 season.
