Russell Wilson: 'I am the one who lost Super Bowl'

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson says he blames himself for his side's Super Bowl defeat.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has said that he feels responsible for their Super Bowl XLIX defeat to the New England Patriots.

Wilson had a pass intercepted in the red zone as his side hunted a winning touchdown in the final minute of the game, but he insists that he trusted his coach's decision to pass the ball instead of running it.

He told reporters: "When they called the call, I trusted it, you have to trust your instincts and trust the play. There wasn't really anything else we could do. If we threw the ball, we had a touchdown right there."

"It definitely hurts you know, you think about everything you go through all year. All the ups and downs, how great we played in this game. At the same time, I love the guys I have around me, I hate feeling that I am the one who lost it in a way."

Wilson led his side to Super Bowl success 12 months ago.
