The San Francisco 49ers have acquired wide receiver Jon Baldwin in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, with AJ Jenkins heading to Arrowhead.
The NFC West side had selected Jenkins with their first-round draft pick last year, but the wideout was warned that he would have to improve to secure a place on the team's roster for the coming season.
49ers general manager Trent Baalke told the team's official website: "We would like to thank AJ for his efforts as a member of the 49ers and wish him all the best with the Kansas City Chiefs.
"We are pleased to add [Baldwin] to our team and look forward to incorporating him into our offense. Both players have been presented a great opportunity for a new beginning with their respective teams."
Baldwin, who is heading into his third season in the NFL, recorded 325 receiving yards and scored one touchdown for the AFC West team in 2012.
