Brandon Jacobs has been suspended by the San Francisco 49ers for the remainder of the current NFL season.
The running back, who joined the 49ers in the off-season from the New York Giants, took to Twitter to express his displeasure at not being given more game time since joining the squad.
The 30-year-old picked up a knee injury in pre-season training, but has made just five carries in two games since returning to fitness.
Jacobs is out of contract at the end of the season.
San Francisco have offered no official explanation for the suspension, stating that it is a matter between the team and the player.
