San Francisco 49ers announce coaching staff for 2015 season

The San Francisco 49ers announce their coaching staff that will support new head coach Jim Tomsula for the 2015 season.

The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed the coaching staff that will serve under head coach Jim Tomsula for the 2015 season.

The 46-year-old was hired as the replacement to Jim Harbaugh, who left the club at the end of the 2014 season to join the Michigan Wolverines, while the majority of his staff also departed.

Geep Chryst has been named as the offensive coordinator after spending the past four seasons as the club's quarterbacks coach and he replaces Greg Roman, who joined the Buffalo Bills.

Eric Mangini has become the defensive coordinator after coaching the tight ends in the 2014 campaign. The 44-year-old has previously been head coach of the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns.

Other notable names in the staff include former Oakland Raiders interim head coach Tony Sparano, who will coach the club's tight ends, while the Raiders former defensive coordinator Jason Tarver will serve as the linebackers coach.

"Our staff is a collection of passionate coaches who have wide-ranging experience at every level of the game," head coach Jim Tomsula told the club's official website.

"This is a group of talented communicators who take great pride in helping players maximise their abilities.

"Throughout the staff you see bright, high-energy coaches who enjoy taking a hands-on approach to teaching the game. We are all looking forward to getting to work."

The 49ers missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 season in the last campaign as they posted an 8-8 record.
