Mike McCoy refuses to blame officials for loss

San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy refuses to blame the referee after his side had a late touchdown that would have seen them beat the Washington Redskins disallowed.

San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy has refused to blame the officials for disallowing a late touchdown in his side's match against the Washington Redskins last night.

The Chargers thought that they had claimed a late victory when Danny Woodhead was awarded a touchdown in the closing stages of the contest, but the play was overruled on review, giving San Diego a first-and-goal on the one-yard line.

The Redskins managed to hold out and force the Chargers into a field goal that sent the match into overtime, during which Darrel Young ran in for his third touchdown of the game to secure a 30-24 victory for Washington.

McCoy has insisted that he would not question the decision of the referee, instead pointing out that his side had three chances to win the game following the disallowed touchdown.

"I'm not questioning any of the calls. We did what we thought was best to win the football game and we're moving on," McCoy told The AP.

"Hey, in this business, would've, should've, could've. If one of those three plays worked, there's no questions asked."

The defeat means that the Chargers remain third in the AFC West with a 4-4 record.
