Report: Pittsburgh Steelers set to release safety Troy Polamalu

Veteran Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu has reportedly played his last game for the team.

Troy Polamalu has played his last game for the Pittsburgh Steelers and will leave in the close-season, according to reports.

The 34-year-old has been with the team since 2003 and he helped them win two Super Bowls in 2005 and 2008.

However, NFL Media reports that the safety does not feature in their plans for the 2015 season and they will try to negotiate his exit in the coming weeks.

Polamalu said that he was considering retirement in January.
