Michael Vick: 'Season opener just another game'

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick says that the first game of the season is not different to any other.

Michael Vick has said that the Philadelphia Eagles will be treating their opening game of the 2013 NFL season like any other fixture.

The NFC East side face divisional rivals the Washington Redskins on Monday night in their first game of the new campaign.

The quarterback told the team's website: "You have to just approach it like it's another game. You've got 16 of them and this one isn't going to be any different because it's played on a different day. Our approach has to be the same and we have to stay even keeled and calm.

"[Openers] are big games, but every game is a big game. You could be in week 11, and that game could determine the course of your season, and like Coach [Chip] Kelly tells us, one play can determine the course of the game.

"You've got to give it your all and you can't take any plays off. You can't treat it differently. You've got to give it everything that you've got and not leave any stones unturned. The one thing you don't want to do is be laying in your bed at night after the game wondering what could have happened and what should have happened."

The Eagles finished last in their division in 2012.
