Chip Kelly hails "unbelievable" Jason Avant

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly pays tribute to Jason Avant after the veteran wide receiver was released by the team earlier today.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has hailed veteran wide receiver Jason Avant as a "great teammate" following his release from the club.

Avant saw his eight-year spell as an Eagle come to an end earlier today after the team decided to cut him just days after handing new contracts to Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin.

However, Kelly was still full of praise for the 30-year-old and believes that he will have no trouble finding another team to play for next season.

"In the year I spent with Jason, he was unbelievable in terms of his work ethic and his selfless nature," Kelly said in a team statement.

"He was a great teammate. We know he will have a chance to sign with another team, and by releasing him now he will have a full off-season to make the necessary adjustments."

Avant, who recorded 38 catches for 447 yards and two touchdowns last season, was chosen by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2006 Draft.
