Maurice Jones-Drew signs Oakland Raiders deal

Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew signs a three-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has signed a three-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.

The move sees Jones-Drew reunited with Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olsen, who spent time with the Jaguars as their assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach in 2012.

The 29-year-old is expected to compete for the starting job with Darren McFadden, who has struggled with injuries since being picked fourth overall in the 2008 Draft.

However, Jones-Drew was also hampered by injury last season, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry and rushing for 803 yards and five touchdowns in his 15 appearances.

He was a first-team All-Pro in 2011 having recorded a league-high 1,606 rushing yards that season, while he has also been voted to three Pro Bowls.

The former second-round Draft pick had previously stated his desire to join the Raiders due to the fact that they are his hometown team.
