Future Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss has decided to retire, according to his agent.
The 34-year-old was said to be close to joining the New York Jets as a free agent, but the club instead signed Plaxico Burress.
"After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he's decided to retire," his agent Joel Segal told ESPN.
Moss leaves the NFL after registering 153 touchdown catches and 954 receptions during a 13-year career.
His most successful season came in 2007, when he caught 23 touchdown passes to help the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl, where they suffered a shock defeat to the New York Giants.
