Michael Vick ready to play with control

New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick insists that he will need to play with control in his first start in over a year.

New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick has insisted that he will learn his lesson and play with more control against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

The Jets have slipped to a 1-7 start to the season after a seven-game losing streak, and coach Rex Ryan has opted to drop Geno Smith and replace him with Vick.

"Last week, I got too greedy. I was trying to play like a 24-year-old Mike Vick. You've got to play with some type of control," Vick told reporters.

The 34-year-old committed three turnovers in three quarters last week but he is set to break a run of 24 consecutive starts for Smith.

However, he has stressed the need to maintain control of his emotions ahead of making his first start in a year after joining the Jets in the summer.
