New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is practising with the team today after being diagnosed with a mild ankle sprain.

Geno Smith has been cleared to return to practice with the New York Jets today.

The rookie quarterback sustained an ankle injury during the AFC East side's 26-17 loss to the Detroit Lions on Friday.

Tests revealed that the 22-year-old had only suffered a mild sprain, allowing him to join his teammates on the practice field earlier today.

Smith completed six of his seven attempts in his first NFL game, making 47 passing yards.
