Chad Pennington: 'Geno Smith and Michael Vick can work together'

Former New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington feels that Geno Smith and Michael Vick can work together at the club to help them reach the playoffs this season.

Former New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington believes that the club made a sensible decision in signing Michael Vick in the off-season.

The Jets drafted Geno Smith in the second round of the 2013 Draft and he struggled in his rookie season in the league, leading the club to sign the veteran following his release by the Philadelphia Eagles.

"In this league you've got to have two competent quarterbacks, with the rate of injuries to quarterbacks," Pennington told NJ.com. "You've got to have two quarterbacks who can win you games.

"It'll be up to Geno and to Michael to make sure that quarterback room is right and correct and that they're supporting each other, no matter who's playing. They can certainly be successful, there's no question."

The Jets finished with an 8-8 record in the 2013 season.
