New York Jets have confirmed that wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been removed from the physically unable to perform list.
Holmes has been out of action for Rex Ryan's side since last September when he suffered a Lisfranc injury against San Francisco 49ers.
Ryan told reporters: "We're all going to lean on the trainers and doctors, and when they say he's ready to go, he'll be chomping at the bit, I can tell you that right now.
"He's excited. I think he's in great shape. Hopefully he can get on the field soon."
The Jets open their regular season campaign against Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 8.
