New York Jets rookie tight end Jace Amaro has expressed his desire to reach the levels of the performance that Tony Gonzalez managed during his illustrious NFL career.
Amaro carved out a prolific career in college football before being chosen by the Jets in the second round of this year's NFL Draft.
The 21-year-old wasted no time in setting high expectations for himself, looking to emulate future Hall of Famer Gonzalez, who is widely regarded to be the greatest tight end in the NFL's history.
"He's kind of old school, but he did some great things. I'd definitely like to [model] his game," Amaro told reporters.
"That's someone who I'd ultimately love to be. He's supposedly the greatest tight end to ever play. That's somewhere where I want to be, too."
Gonzalez retired this off-season having set league records for receptions (1,325), touchdown receptions (111) and total reception yards (15,127) by a tight end.
