New York Giants' Tom Coughlin takes blame for Dallas Cowboys defeat

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin admits that his side's one-point defeat to the Dallas Cowboys was down to his poor decision on the goalline at AT&T Stadium.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has taken full responsibility for his side's defeat to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

The Giants led 23-20 with 1:43 left in the final quarter of the match with the ball at the goalline of Jason Garrett's side, who had no timeouts available to stop the clock.

However, New York called a passing play which failed on third down and stopped the clock, and although Josh Brown kicked a field goal to put his side six points ahead, Dallas had the opportunity for a game-winning drive.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo seized the opportunity and fired a touchdown strike to Jason Witten to secure a 27-26 win for Garrett's team, leaving Coughlin to rue his side's costly mistake.

"It's my fault at the end of the game," Coughlin told reporters. "There's nobody else to blame but me. I take full responsibility for it because the strategy was wrong at the end."

The Giants are next in action against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
