Tom Coughlin "feels bad" for Eli Manning

Tom Coughlin says that the offensive problems that the New York Giants have do not solely lie on the shoulders of Eli Manning.

New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin has said that it is unfair on Eli Manning that many people are placing blame on him for the team's disappointing campaign.

The Giants are sitting in third spot in the NFC East with two matches remaining, with their 0-6 start to the campaign putting paid to their playoff hopes early on.

However, Coughlin has stated that it takes more than poor performances from his quarterback for his side to have a bad season.

Coughlin told reporters: "Our offensive problems aren't all on Eli no, that's not true. I'm asked this every week. No one person loses football games. It takes a team to win and a team to lose and so the issues that we have are the issues that we have.

"First, it's the head coach, blame me, that's my job. I feel badly for Eli that he has to stand up and answer things of this nature, but it's understandable where it comes from, the quarterback and the head coach. Is it all his fault? No, of course not."

Manning has thrown a league-high 25 interceptions so far this season.
