Report: Jason Pierre-Paul 'doing okay' in hospital following fireworks accident

A report suggests that New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is 'doing okay' in hospital after injuring his hand in a fireworks accident.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is in decent condition in hospital, according to a report.

The 26-year-old sustained a hand injury on Sunday while attempting to light fireworks as part of July 4 celebrations, and was taken immediately for treatment in hospital.

Initial reports suggested that Pierre-Paul could miss the start of the 2015 season, although the club doctors have yet to confirm any prognosis on his injury.

A source told NFL Network that the 26-year-old "is doing okay" in hospital as he recovers from the trauma of the accident.

Pierre-Paul is not currently under contract with the Giants as he did not sign his franchise-tag tender after failing to agree a long-term deal with the NFC East side.
