Settlement talks agreed for Tom Brady case in New York

The NFL and NFL Players Association agree to attempt to resolve Tom Brady's four-game suspension in a settlement with New York judge Richard Berman.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association have agreed to settlement talks regarding the four-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

The 37-year-old's appeal against his ban was upheld by commissioner Roger Goodell, which prompted Brady and the NFLPA to take legal action against the league.

The NFL pre-empted the move and filed for the case to be heard in New York, which was confirmed, despite the NFLPA's attempts to have the proceedings take place in Minnesota.

However, New York judge Richard Berman has expressed his desire to bring both sides to the table to resolve the issue, and has asked for them to meet before August 12 to discuss a resolution.

Both parties will file their positions on August 7 before they come to a conference involving Berman as well as Goodell and Brady.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft admitted that he found the league's stance on the case "unfathomable".
