The NFL has confirmed that the New England Patriots have asked for the reinstatement of staff members John Jastremski and Jim McNally.
Both men were at the centre of the deflategate scandal as they were indicted in the Wells Report as the key players in an alleged scheme to under-inflate footballs in the Patriots' AFC championship win over the Indianapolis Colts.
New England suspended the duo at the request of the NFL, and were told that they would not be allowed to return to work without the consent of league executive Troy Vincent.
The Patriots have now asked for their reinstatement ahead of the start of the 2015 season.
"It is under review," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement.
Quarterback Tom Brady had his suspension for the scandal lifted by US District judge Richard Berman last week.
