New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has confirmed that he went for an interview for the vacant head coach's position at the Cleveland Browns.
Reports suggested that the 37-year-old was the Browns' top candidate to replace Rob Chudzinski who was fired last week, but McDaniels refused to say how far his position had progressed.
He told reporters: "We met and that's about all there is at this point. Nothing, nothing further. I appreciate the question, and I understand it. I know that's something that comes up each time this year for other coaches.
"The opportunities are certainly flattering if they come up. That being said, I am going to try to keep my focus on the Colts and our preparation this week."
The Patriots face the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs on Saturday.
